Calcite and pyrite usually sit alongside it: the pyrite as tiny, randomly spaced grains with a contrasting gold colour, the calcite as lighter areas. That mixture changes from stone to stone, which is why no two pieces of lapis are alike.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThe stone is left raw\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe face of this stone is not polished. A crust of small crystals sits across it, so instead of returning the light in one mirrored patch it catches it in many separate points. The setting is built up in height, so the stone stands tall on the finger and you see its sides as well as its face.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eClaws, and a sprig above\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eClaws with beaded tips hold the stone from both sides. Above it stands a small silver sprig with leaves and buds, the only part of the ring that does not touch the stone and still belongs to it. We shape the stone and build the silver around it in our Tbilisi studio.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eA band worked as a twig\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eBark texture runs along the surface of the band, with small buds set into it the whole way round. At the shoulders the band widens into leaf shaped plates that lean against the setting from either side.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eIt adjusts on the finger\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe band does not close all the way round. Press the two ends a little closer and it tightens, ease them apart and it opens, and the ring holds where you set it, with no size to choose at checkout.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eOne of one\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eEvery stone is chosen and set one at a time.
