This blue lapis lazuli necklace sets a raw stone at the center of a wide disc of silver branches.

Where the blue comes from
The blue of lapis lazuli comes from lazurite, a deep and saturated color that leans toward violet. Lapis is a rock rather than a single mineral, so the blue is never spread the same way across two pieces. Each stone carries its own distribution.

The stone does not sit in a bezel
There is no frame around this stone. The silver branches run across its face and hold it like a net, so the stone shows through the openings rather than through one cut window. The surface is not polished: a crust of small crystals sits across it, so instead of returning the light in one mirrored patch it catches it in many separate points.

A disc of branches
Silver branches spread outward from the center. Each one divides as it goes and ends in a rounded bud, and together they build a thick, wide disc. That disc is not flat. The branches stand at different heights and pass over one another. We shape the stone and build the silver around it in our Tbilisi studio.

A small bail on a large piece
The bail is deliberately small, and it carries the same buds as the branches. It is linked on with a ring, so the disc turns freely on the cord.
