Moonstone Jewelry
Moonstone is a variety of the feldspar mineral orthoclase. Its soft inner glow has a name: adularescence, caused by light scattering between microscopic layers inside the stone, so it shifts as you move. Every piece here was cut and set by hand in my workshop in Tbilisi, in sterling silver (925).
Moonstone needs more care than most stones I work with. It sits at 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, has two cleavage directions, and GIA rates its toughness as poor. Warm soapy water only, never an ultrasonic or steam cleaner. More on the stone in my article on moonstone.
Moonstone is the birthstone for June.
