Malachite is a copper carbonate, and that banded green comes from the copper itself. No two bands are alike, so no two pieces here look the same. Every stone was cut and set by hand in my workshop in Tbilisi, in sterling silver (925).

Malachite is a soft stone: 3.5 to 4.5 on the Mohs scale, with perfect cleavage in one direction. Clean it with a soft, barely damp cloth, never an ultrasonic or steam cleaner, and keep acidic cleaners away from it. One more thing worth knowing: malachite dust is toxic to breathe when the stone is ground. That is a problem at my bench, not on your neck, and the finished stone is safe to wear. More on it in my article on malachite.
