Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, and its colour runs from a pale lilac to a deep violet. Every stone here was cut and set by hand in my workshop in Tbilisi, in sterling silver (925).

One thing worth knowing before you buy: GIA notes that some amethyst colour can fade with prolonged exposure to intense light, and that amethyst should not be subjected to heat. So keep it out of a sunny windowsill and out of a hot car. Otherwise it is an easy stone to own, 7 on the Mohs scale with good toughness, suitable for everyday wear. Warm soapy water is safe. Steam cleaning is not recommended.
