Description

This malachite pendant carries a single raw green stone in darkened silver claws, on a soft black cord.

Silky fibers across the face
Malachite is a copper carbonate mineral, which is where the green comes from. The face of this stone is not polished flat: it is a mass of fine fibers lying in one direction, so the light travels across it as a band rather than breaking into points.

Small on purpose
This is a small pendant. It sits just below the collarbone and reads as one point of green. It works with everyday clothes and it does not ask you to build an outfit around it.

Claws, not a bezel
Thick silver claws with beaded tips reach over the rough edges of the stone and hold it from the outside. A smooth bezel needs a smooth stone, and this surface was never taken that far.

The back is left open
The back of the setting is not a closed plate. It is a silver lattice with gaps through it, and the green shows through from behind. We shape the stone and build the silver around it in our Tbilisi studio.

A cord, not a chain
The soft black cord lies flat against the skin and catches no light of its own, so the green is the only color you see.

One of one
Every stone is chosen and set one at a time. The piece that reaches you will be close to the photograph and never a copy of it.
