Pink Rose Quartz Necklace - Oval Pendant in Silver

This rose quartz necklace carries a milky pink oval in a rim of silver beads, on a soft black cord.

Rose quartz is never clear
Microscopic mineral fibers grow inside the quartz and give it the pink, and those same fibers scatter the light. That is why the stone is milky rather than see-through, and why it is cut as a dome instead of being faceted.

A rim of beads, and claws over the face
Small silver beads run all the way around the oval, and in several places a claw shaped like a short twig reaches in over the face of the stone. The silver is darkened in the hollows, so the rim reads as a broken ring against the pale pink.

A granulated bail
Above the stone sits a wide bail with silver granules set along it. They are the same beads that ring the stone below, so the top of the pendant carries the same hand as its front.

The back is worked too
The back of the setting is not left plain. A fine branching texture is worked across it, on the side that rests against the skin. We cut the stone and build the silver around it in our Tbilisi studio.

A cord, not a chain
The soft black cord lies flat against the skin and catches no light of its own, so the pink is the only color you see.
