Raw Aquamarine Earrings - Uncut Blue and White Stones

These raw aquamarine earrings hang two uncut stones in rims of dark silver beads.

Aquamarine left uncut
Aquamarine is the blue variety of beryl, and its color runs from greenish blue to blue. We leave the face of these two stones as it is, so what you see is the stone's own surface: fine parallel lines run across it, and the blue is not even, gathering deeper in some bands and fading to near white in others.

A square stone in a rim of beads
Each stone is a square with softened corners, ringed by small silver beads that run the whole way round without a break. At intervals a larger bead stands up and folds over the edge of the stone to hold it in place. The silver is oxidized dark, so the blue reads brighter against it. We shape both stones and build the silver around them in our Tbilisi studio.

A closed back
Behind each stone the silver is a closed plate, smooth on the side that rests against the skin and ringed by the same bead border that frames the front.

Above each stone sits a flat silver plate, narrow where it meets the link and widening as it rises, with fine lines fanning out across its face.

Leverback, not a hook
The hinged lever closes behind the ear, so the drop cannot slide off during the day. The stone hangs below the lobe and moves with you.

Every stone is chosen and set one at a time. The pair that reaches you will be close to the photograph and never a copy of it.
